My Bio
I was born a feral child in the wilds near Lake Ontario :flagcanada: Abandoned by my parents and left to fend for myself, I was later found by a group of beer lovin' hockey players who were playing a game on a nearby frozen lake. They took me into their camp and fed me a steady diet of Labatts Blue, maple syrup tapped from nearby trees and french fries with gravy on top. One of the players named Gordy Boitano later adopted me and christened me Gordy Junior (never mind that I was a girl). I was a rebellious child for I fell in love with baseball and not hockey. While my father wore nothing but Toronto Maple Leaf gear, I wore nothing but Toronto Blue Jays gear. My father grew to resent me (after all, the blue jays won two world series and the maple leafs couldn't win a one sided game of tic-tac-toe) I left home when I was 18 and met a light skinned mexican half-breed. We married and had three children, Gordy the 3rd, Hannah (named after the park for where I was found) and Raquel. And now, I live a docile life in Oregon where I go to bed each night and dream of Labatts beer, fresh maple syrup and french fries with gravy.

My husband told me that Tom Petty wrote this song after he broke his hand.  It was hard for him to not to be able to play guitar, while waiting for it to heal.  And, I know exactly how that feels.  I had another set back with my hand and I've been wearing another splint since last November.  I'm so tired of this!  I just want it to function normally again. But, my PT says I can start building up the muscles again in a couple of days, so I am hopeful. Yeah, the waiting really is the hardest part.

...is what the open mic night emcee said to me after my performance.  And he was right.  I have sang in church in front of a congregation and a vocal audition I did a few years ago, but that was the first time I've sang and played guitar.  He also told me that he works with a lot of first time performers, getting them from practice mode to rehearsal mode. So, that'll happen about a week before the next open mic night. My performance itself went very well.  Once I started, I couldn't hear anything or anybody except myself.  I guess I was just incredibly focused.  I did mess up the lyrics on 'Perfume', which is something I always do when I pla

I'm going to do my very first open mic night, this evening at a local pub.  I haven't had a lot of practice (if I play too much, my hand flares up) and my voice isn't the best.  But, I know me.  If I kept putting it off (open mic night is only once a month) it was going to get harder for me to get my courage up. I announced on my facebook fan page, and by doing that I'll be pushing myself.   So, stay tuned.......
